Es un evento deportivo único, ya que es el único que se lleva a cabo en el Caribe, en un entorno paradisíaco lleno de sol, playas de ensueño y la hermosa nación caribeña de Cuba.



All individuals who wish to participate, aged 18 and over, whether federated or not, as well as foreign athletes who comply with the regulations of the Cuban Athletics Federation and World Athletics, will be able to participate.

CLASSIFICATION:

For the 10 km test:

•  Male general and female general. For the Half Marathon:

•    General masculino y femenino.

Veterans (age will be taken into account on the day of the test).

•    Categories:  B: 40-44, C: 45-49, D: 50-54, E: 55-59, F: 60-64, G: 65-70, H: 70-74, I: 75 years or older.

•    Regulation athletic wheelchair (M/F). For the Marathon:

•    General masculine and feminine.

•    Veterans (age on the day of the test will be taken into account).

•    Categories:  B: 40-44, C: 45-49, D: 50-54, E: 55-59, F: 60-64, G: 65-70, H: 70-74, I: 75 years or older.

•    Standard athletic wheelchair (M/F).

Skating race (Half Marathon).

• Male general and female general.


Participants in wheelchairs, Handbikes (non-competitive), or any other similar type of wheelchair (non-competitive) may not overtake the police car that leads the race at any time. If they do, they will be disqualified.

•    Viernes 22 marzo: de 10.00h a 14.00h y de 16:00h a 20:00h

•    Sábado 23 marzo: de 10.00h a 14.00h y de 16:00h a 20:00h

El día de la carrera no se entregarán dorsales a corredores internacionales. Para corredores cubanos que lleguen a Varadero, los atenderemos hasta una hora antes de la salida del maratón (04:00h a.m.)

The Varadero International Marathon allows runners to traverse a flat circuit. The race starts and finishes at the Central Park (8000 ticket booths) of the City of Varadero and runs in its first kilometers along Avenida Primera, leaving the well-known "Josone Park" to the right.

At 2 km, you exit onto the South Highway (Arenas Blancas), heading towards Matanzas until you reach 24th Street to return again via the South Highway towards Bahía Blanca (First Avenue). In this section, the runner can enjoy views of the beautiful "Bahía de Cárdenas."

Posteriormente, en el Km 14 se enlaza con la Avenida Kawama retornando en Km 16, en Playa Caleta, a la Primera Avenida para finalizar en el Parque de las 8000 Taquillas.

MARATHON | 42 KM

The Varadero Marathon was reborn in 2023 with a flat and unparalleled course. The race starts and finishes at the Central Park (8000 ticket booths) of the City of Varadero. It runs in its first kilometers along Avenida Primera, leaving the famous "Parque Josone" to the right.

HALF MARATHON | 21 K

The Varadero Half Marathon allows runners to traverse a flat circuit. The race starts and finishes at the Central Park (8000 ticket booths) of the City of Varadero and runs in its first kilometers along Avenida Primera, leaving the famous “Josone Park” to the right. At 2 km, it exits onto the South Highway (Arenas Blancas), heading towards Matanzas until reaching 24th Street, then returning again on the South Highway towards Bahía Blanca (Avenida Primera). In this section, the runner can enjoy views of the beautiful “Bahía de Cárdenas.”

Subsequently, at Km 14 it connects with Kawama Avenue, returning at Km 16, in Playa Caleta, to First Avenue to finish at the Park of the 8000 Ticket Booths.

RACE | 10 KM

Flat and fast circuit in the center of the City of Varadero. The race starts and finishes at Central Park (8000 ticket booths). It runs in its first kilometers along First Avenue, leaving the well-known "Josone Park" on the right.

At the First Avenue and South Highway intersection, a 180º turn is made returning to First Avenue. Approximately at km 6.700 of Kawama Avenue, a 180º turn is made at Novoforma. From here, the race returns to First Avenue until it finishes at Central Park (8000 ticket booths).

ROLLER SKATING RACE | 42 KM

The Varadero skating race allows participants to cover a flat circuit. The race starts and ends at the Central Park (8000 ticket booths) of the City of Varadero and runs in its first kilometers along First Avenue, leaving the well-known "Josone Park" on the right.

  • The start of the Marathon and the half marathon will take place at 05:00h from Central Park (8,000 Ticket Offices).

  • The finish line will be located in Central Park. The finish line will be located in Central Park.
  • The closing time for the Marathon event will be at 12:00 PM (7h). The closing time for the half marathon will be at 8:00 AM (3h) and for the 10 km race at 9:00 AM (2h), which is the official maximum time for each event..
  • To access the starting area, runners will do so based on their time, with plans to establish starting corrals for the marathon, half marathon, and 10K. The expected time must be indicated at the time of registration..
  • The organization may request accreditation of the indicated brand.

  • The event will be overseen by judges from the Cuban Athletics Federation.
  • The timing will be done by EVEDEPORT using the Timingsense chip system. The chip will be incorporated into the bib number..
  • Any runner who participates without a bib, visible throughout the entire route, as well as anyone who does not complete the course in its entirety, will be disqualified..
  • It is strictly prohibited to participate in the marathon, half marathon, and 10 km without a bib number, and anyone who does not comply with this rule will be removed from the event..
  • The only vehicles authorized to follow the event will be those designated by the Organization and will be properly accredited. It is completely prohibited to follow the runners on motorcycles or bicycles, and they will be removed by the police to prevent any accidents they may cause.

•   General Classification Prizes 10,000 male and female 1st, 2nd, 3rd trophy.

•    Veterans Classification Awards in Men's and Women's Half Marathon: trophy for the First Place in each category.

•    General Classification Awards for Skates (Med Preia Marathon and Marathon) to the first male and female finishers.

•    Awards Classification Disabled Wheelchair trophy for the first male and female classified.


MEDICAL SERVICES

The events will have the necessary Medical Services to assist the runners. The Organization recommends that all participants undergo a Medical Check-up prior to the event, with each participant accepting the risks associated with the sporting activity..

At the end of the test, participants who need it will be able to use a physical therapy service.

➢  Any matters not provided for in this regulation, as well as any possible claims, will be resolved by the referee judge, in accordance with the regulations of World Athletics and the Cuban Athletics Federation.

The first edition of the Varadero International Half Marathon took place on April 15, 2018. Elite athletes and amateurs came together on a flat course, enjoying the Caribbean atmosphere and an average temperature of 20ºC. More than 800 participants from 15 different nationalities took part in the event, setting new records in the Caribbean. In 2019, the number of runners nearly reached 2000.
